Bands

The Wreckers - www.thewreckers.co.uk

No, it's not the (superb) american all girl country band, but the (almost as good) folk band I'm currently playing with.

Soul Baby - www.myspace.com/soulbabyband or Facebook
MySpace site and Facebook page for the Soul Band I used to play with.

Awsome 3-piece band that play a wide range of soul and funk.

Pass The Buck - www.passthebuckband.co.uk
Website for Pass The Buck, one of the best Ceilidh / Barn Dance bands in the area (and you can occasionally see me playing bass with them).

Bad Toad - www.badtoad.co.uk and www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=4672693483
Soul and Motown classics from a superb 10 piece band - guaranteed to have you up and dancing all night long.

Lady Winwoods Maggott - www.moosemanor.co.uk and www.myspace.com/ladywinwoodsmaggot2
Don't ask me to describe this one - it may be country, folk, punk, hellbilly, death western... in the words of the MySpace site: "The Clash mating with Johnny Cash on Elvis' couch". Whatever it is, it's sure to be a great show, so don't miss them.

Blues / Rock - all originals with songs from Alan and Chris Croft's superb sax playing.

Rock, rock and more rock. A superb band, with possibly the best rock front-man in the South of England.

Southampton based band playing modern rock covers, and some originals. A great sounding band with a set list that's just that little bit different to 'the norm'.

Tim Rea - www.myspace.com/timreamusic
Tim's MySpace site - he's got all his gigs on there - check out his funk band 'The GoodFoot' - www.myspace.com/thegoodfootband

Lead Guitarist/Keyboard player with Bad Toad, excellent musician, superb PA/Sound/Recording Engineer, and a jolly fine chap too!

Groove4Dayz - www.groove4dayz.com
Run by Yolanda Charles (bass player with everyone from BB King to Robbie Williams, as well as a superb singer songwriter) and Miles Bould. Check out 'The Game' by MamaYo - a superb funk album written by Yolanda.

The Music Lesson (by Victor L Wooten) - www.vixboox.com/The_Music_Lesson.htm

Check out the first chapter from this excellent book. I was lucky enough to get a copy of the book shipped over from the US before it went out of print, and I can thoroughly recommend it. It's written by a bass player, so there is a bias towards bass playing, but the theories and concepts talked about apply equally to all musicians. I have to confess the book is a little strange in places, but its fun to read and really makes you reconsider your playing style and attitudes. This is a 'must-read' for all musicians.
